Accounting Major

Accounting majors study the identification, measurement, and communication of financial information.

Traditionally they begin their careers in public accounting or industrial accounting and earn their CPA certificates. In addition to public and industrial accounting, students can pursue careers in consulting, government, and many other fields. The accounting major at SMU Cox combines rigorous academics with tremendous professional connections and internships with the top public accounting firms in the world.  This leads to great job placement for our accounting graduates year after year. An optional Master of Science in Accounting is also available at SMU to fulfill Texas CPA requirements.
