The Cox Global Network

by |

The day you enroll at SMU Cox is the day you start networking. Whether you're socializing with peers and faculty, getting global insights from an alum, grabbing face time with a Dallas business executive or being mentored by a business leader in your field, you'll be building a powerful professional network for a lifetime of career growth.

Cox Ranks No. 1 in Networking

A business degree's value is as strong as the school's alumni network — and the SMU Cox Alumni Association is among the strongest you'll find. That's one reason why The Economist has ranked SMU Cox in the top 20 in the U.S. for networking potential and our alumni network No. 28 in the world for global breadth and effectiveness.

Ninety years in the making and nourished by the deep sense of connection that's core to Cox culture, our alumni association is close-knit and active. With more than 42,000 members and chapters in some 20 countries around the world, wherever you go after graduation — from downtown Dallas to Chicago or Shanghai — you’ll find fellow alumni ready to help.

It's All About Connecting

Even before you earn your Cox business degree and become a lifetime member of the Cox Alumni Association, you'll find alumni willing to share career experiences and insights. Some other reasons why students value Cox for the networks they build here:

The Executive Speaker Series, a Business Leadership Center program that invites MBA students to connect with top-level corporate execs in a small-group boardroom setting. Speakers from a range of industries field your questions about their professional trajectories and work ventures. Read more

Clubs and associations. From national business fraternities to student-run groups, Cox's clubs and associations are a great way to build a peer network of fellow students who hail from around the world and share your professional interests and goals. Plus, these groups offer you opportunities to take on leadership roles. Read more

The Cox Mentor Alliance, which connects students with a mentor in the Dallas business community to create the foundation for a long-term relationship. Read more

I chose SMU Cox because getting an MBA program is an investment, and I know I'll have the greatest return with this program. SMU Cox is well respected and has an outstanding alumni network, both globally and locally.

The New Face of Networking

Training for the Boston MBA Fun Run. Showing up for the weekly student-hosted social. You might not think of these as networking opportunities, but informal events at Cox provide some of your best opportunities to build strong connections. Some schools hold stuffy networking events; as a Cox student, you can kick back at the Dean's Tailgate on the Boulevard that's scheduled before each home football game and mingle with recent grads, faculty and local business leaders. (Tip: Bring your business cards!)

At the heart of Cox is a close community and a generous culture of giving back. One day you'll pay forward the help you get now, and you and your peers will support one another in invaluable personal and professional ways throughout your careers. That's part of the value of a Cox degree.
