During the State of the University address, President Hartzell introduced Mustang Charge: Accelerating SMU to the Forefront. The strategic framework describes how we will place SMU at the leading edge of higher education.
SMU is on the rise. We have undeniable momentum. And we have a bold vision for our future: to place SMU among our nation’s greatest universities.
At the State of the University, we introduced our strategic framework, Mustang Charge: Accelerating SMU to the Forefront. It reflects what we heard from across the Hilltop and beyond. Throughout the extensive planning process, students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, parents, business leaders, and community members shared their hopes and ambitions for SMU’s future. Mustang Charge is our answer.
Our vision is intentionally bold. We will be at the leading edge of higher education, advancing in the key dimensions that define a top university: teaching, research, and the student experience – across academics, athletics, and the arts – on our quintessential campus, aligned with a world-class city. This vision also reflects our commitment to principled leadership, both in the students we educate and the faculty and staff we support and develop. We are building on advantages that few universities in the country have within their reach.
In addition to offering a shared framework, Mustang Charge provides a foundation for continued innovation. It also invites our community to bring forward expertise and ideas for consideration as our strategy continues to evolve. Each of us has a role to play in putting it into action.
