Office Hours and Work Week

Office Hours

Administrative and general office hours are from Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a lunch period of one hour to be scheduled by each department as requirements demand.  The expected office hours are thirty-seven and one-half hours per week. In some areas a 40-hour work-week is prescribed.

Offices which generally serve students, faculty, staff and the public should remain open during the lunch hour and in some cases be open on weekends with reduced work forces.  Because of requirements unique to their operations, certain departments must establish work hours designed to meet their specific business needs. Some departments must also operate with a second or third shift.

 

Work Week 

The work week begins each Saturday at 12:00 a.m. (midnight) and ends at 11:59 p.m. the following Friday night.  Computation of overtime will be determined by the number of hours worked each work week within each pay period.

The purpose of "work week" is to establish a week for the purpose of calculating regular pay and overtime pay. If an employee is required to work on a Saturday, it is the first day of the work week, not the last, and the department head has an opportunity to reschedule such employee’s hours for the remainder of the work week to avoid overtime expense.
