Tayebeh Bahreini is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering at SMU, specializing in distributed systems, edge computing, cloud computing, and optimization algorithms. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Wayne State University. Following her Ph.D., she joined the IBM T.J.

Watson Research Center as a postdoctoral research scientist, where she worked on energy systems and sustainability in cloud environments.

Dr. Bahreini has received several prestigious awards, including the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Collegiate National Award and the Ralph H. Kummler Distinguished Achievement Award. She has also been recognized as one of the Top Ten Women in Edge Computing and was a finalist for the 2019 Edge Woman of the Year Award by Edge Computing World.
