Program Availability and Enrollment

Through a partnership with UT Dallas, SMU Lyle students can enroll in Army ROTC and earn credit while developing elite leadership skills. Prepare for a career in military service or translate those skills into high-impact civilian roles.

While Army ROTC is not directly offered on the SMU campus, students have the exciting opportunity to participate through our partnership with the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). This allows you to combine your SMU education with top-tier military leadership training.

Enrolling in ROTC is as simple as registering for any other SMU course. Just obtain permission from Undergraduate Advising & Student Records, and you're on your way to an unparalleled leadership experience.

ROTC courses are conveniently listed under ROTC in the my.SMU schedule of classes, making registration seamless. While students arrange their own travel to UTD, the rewards far outweigh the effort and practical leadership experience, physical conditioning, and tactical training that will set you apart in any career.

ROTC Scholarship Opportunities

  • Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis.
  • Coverage includes tuition, educational fees, textbooks, supplies, and equipment.
  • A subsistence allowance of up to $1,000 per year is provided.
