Melissa Black

Melissa Black brings a background in law, business and marketing to her role as adjunct faculty at the SMU Cox School of Business. She teaches MBA-level classes in business law, negotiation and global strategy.

Black’s legal experience includes litigation support, contract analysis, compliance and legal research. She has worked with law firms and corporate legal counsel, and contributed research and analysis to a database on human trafficking cases. Her professional background also includes statistical analysis, digital marketing and client relations.

Black earned a J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law and an MBA from SMU Cox. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing, magna cum laude, from Texas State University. During her graduate studies, she served as managing editor of the SMU Business Journal and president of the JD/MBA Society.
