Biography

Dr. James Hamill is a Professor of Practice at the Cox School of Business. He has previously taught at Arizona State University, the University of Oklahoma, the University of New Mexico, and East Texas A&M University. He has a Ph.D. From Arizona State University. He has previously worked for Deloitte in Philadelphia and Phoenix and KPMG in Phoenix. He has served as Director of Tax Practice for Reynolds Hix & Co. in Albuquerque, NM and as a managing member of Exchange Facilitators, LLC, a Section 1031 qualified intermediary and exchange accommodation titleholder. He also provides consulting services for the U.S. operations of a French headquartered multinational.

He writes a weekly column on tax matters for the Albuquerque Journal, serves on the editorial board of RIA’s Practical Tax Strategies and writes a bimonthly column on partnership tax issues for CCH’s TAXES – The Tax Magazine. He has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal and other publications. Jim has taught tax seminars for EY, Deloitte, RSM, BDO, CBIZ, Alvarez and Marsal, the AICPA, CCH Wolters-Kluwer, Phillips Petroleum, McAfee, and many other organizations. He is a past Chair of the New Mexico Society of CPAs and has more than 40 years of experience in professional tax practice.
