On average, SMU Guildhall students work on game projects and homework outside of class 15 hours per week. It’s hard work, but it pays off! Our alumni say it’s absolutely worth it. Because our model mimics the style and pace of the industry, the work and time you put in here is excellent training for the “real world.”
We have a lot of fun too. Our Student Activities Committee plans regular social events, like Game Nights and Happy Hours, for you to unwind and enjoy.
The following is a depiction of a typical schedule for SMU Guildhall students. Classes vary between modules, but the general outline remains the same.
Game Studies 2: Explores general theory and practice of game analysis and design. The class featured during this time period varies between modules.
TGP1 & Core Hours: "Team Game Projects 1" class provides a foundation in the game design process. The TGP class featured during this time period varies between modules. In TGP classes, SMU Guildhall students create games in teams. In "Core Hours", teams continue development of their game outside of formal classtime.
