GameLab bridges student teams with industry professionals by publishing student games on various platforms (such as Steam and PlayStation), licensing original IP, providing early access to turnkey teams, reducing risks and costs to publishers and developers, hosting and organizing eSports events, Game Jams, and the Game Changers Speaker Series.
GameLab collaborates with industry partners for usability testing in our state-of-the-art spaces, and to ensure teams have the most current development techniques, software and hardware.
GameLab also has partnerships with various public and private schools in Dallas and the surrounding cities. This gives Guildhall students a chance to coach and mentor high school students. These aspiring developers show the games they built to students and faculty for advice and encouragement. By supporting these programs and exposing these STEM students to the benefits of our program, GameLab has become known as an integral step leading to a career in video game development.
GameLab at SMU Guildhall offers many options for getting involved to help pave the way for our student teams and to purchase, license, or hire existing games and talent!
- Mentor: Give students direct feedback on games currently in development
