Karl Rove served as senior advisor to the president and White House deputy chief of staff from 2005 to 2007. Rove entered the Bush administration in 2001 after helping manage Bush's successful 2000 presidential campaign, as well as his Texas gubernatorial campaigns in 1994 and 1998. At the White House, Rove also oversaw the offices of Strategic Initiatives, Political Affairs, Public Liaison, and Intergovernmental Affairs (2001-07).
