Please note that Post-Doctoral Fellows are classified as Staff for employee status.
It is very important that you designate one or more beneficiaries for your Basic Group Life Insurance, which is provided by SMU. If you decide to enroll in Supplemental Group Life and or Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, you must also designate beneficiaries for those insurances.
You will complete your designations via The Standard's Online Beneficiary Designation System. You will need the Company Key: standardbendes.
- Please note that it will take approximately two weeks from your hire date before The Standard receives your eligibility information from SMU and establishes a record for you to complete your beneficiary designations.
- The Online Beneficiary Designation Guide will walk you through the process and you will find helpful information in the Beneficiary Designation FAQ.
Every employee is required to submit a signed copy of the Employee Statement during their first week of employment. Your signature will indicate that you have been provided with information regarding SMU's policies and procedures.
