Welcome to SMU! The Parking and ID Card Services Office offers solutions and directions to those who need to move around the campus. Reshaping public perception. Discovering a new way of doing business. Our mission is to provide SMU identification cards and a comprehensive array of parking services for the campus community, as well as visitors.

SMU employees and students who need a new or replacement SMU ID card submit HelpDesk Ticket at Help.SMU.edu 

A parking permit is required to park on campus year round. Below is information on how to get the right permit for your needs.

  • Students registered for MayTerm or Summer 2022 may order the permit for Summer 2022 online for a  discounted flat rate (just log on to your My Parking Account using your SMU ID and Password) Payment is made after the permit is ordered on my.SMU.edu, not on the parking website.  Student permits for Fall 2022 will be available after class registration in late July. 
  • Employees may obtain permits in our office or online by logging on to their Parking Portal account.  Contact us for more information at parking@smu.edu.
  • Visitors can purchase permits in our office, online as a guest or use any self-pay & park location referenced on the visitor parking map (see lower right).
  • Please note Students and Employees - To help enhance application and data security, effective October 14, 2019, Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be required to access this service.
     

2021-22 Academic Year

Student and Employee "Decal Permits" have been replaced by "Virtual Permits" using License Plate Recognition software to validate the permit in the system. Please review the virtual permit parking information below

Parking Fall enforcement schedule is in effect 

Summer enforcement schedule begins May 16th and continues through August 8th

  • Regular Permit and metered parking areas are enforced for Summer is enforced  Monday to  Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • Permits are required to park your car on campus at all times all year round.
  • Students with valid SMU parking permits may park in the area corresponding to their permit description: resident "yellow" or  student commuter "orange or red" on the campus parking map.
  • Lettered employee lots (Blue) remain parking by assignment only and the appropriate permit is required until 5pm, any SMU Permit can use after 5pm.
  • Employees may park in AUP or as indicated on the campus parking map for the type of permit.

Fall enforcement schedule will begin August 8th continue through December 23rd

• Enforcement hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday - Friday 
• Permits are required to park your car on campus
• Students with valid SMU parking permits may park based on type of permit resident permit in yellow areas or student commuter permit in orange areas
• Lettered employee lots remain parking by assignment only and the appropriate permit is still required during summer  
• Employees park in designated employee areas based on their permit type
• Spring parking enforcement begins on January 3rd after Winter Break.

Remember your license plate is what we use to validate your parking permit, so be sure to keep it up to date Log on to your parking account to update your vehicle by selecting "Vehicles" on the upper left of screen and select "View Permit" to link it to the permit.

Parkmobile, LLC, the leading provider of on-demand and prepaid mobile payments for on- and off-street parking announced today its partnership with Southern Methodist University to provide mobile payments for metered and select parking centers on the campus.

Visitors will be able to use the app on-street throughout the campus metered parking spaces, Binkley Parking Center, Moody Parking Center and Hillcrest Parking Center using Parkmobile’s app for iPhone, Android, and Windows phones or by calling the toll-free number on the green meter stickers and signs. Parkmobile’s mobile payments system is very simple and easy to use and contact less. Use one of our parking centers on campus by printing the permit with a Park Mobile QR code online for access using the pay station to read the QR.  

Customers first must register by either downloading the mobile app in their phone’s app store, online at https://parkmobile.io/, or calling the toll-free number on Parkmobile signage. Need assistance contact ParkMobile Customer Service at 877-727-5457.  Once registered, they may immediately begin using the system. The hourly rate is 2.00. 

 

 

  

DART Transit GoPass, riders are able to commute to campus by bus and rail with public transportation that is reliable, economical and hassle free! You must be currently registered for Summer or Fall  2022 semester's classes, have a photo ID and your current US cellphone registered on your my.SMU.edu account as the "Mobile" number to be eligible to download a 2022 student DART GoPass transit pass. 

Your new 2022  DART Transit GoPass will be delivered right to your cell phone. Check out what the GoPass App looks like at http://www.gopass.biz/. Just download DART's free GoPass Mobile Ticketing Application at the App Store on your cell phone and then register your device by clicking on "My Tickets" in the GoPass App. Once you’ve successfully downloaded GoPass, click here more information. The 2022 DART Transit GoPass is valid from Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2022.

Take an easy ride to class, shopping and fun on DART with a DART Transit Pass. Request your pass through the SMU Parking and ID Card Services Office, and you have unlimited access to DART Rail and buses.

Bus Route 440 (SMU Express) takes you to campus, popular student apartment areas and nearby stores, services and restaurants. And you can connect to the DART Rail Red, Blue or Orange Line and other buses at SMU/Mockingbird Station.

Community members can sign up for Rider Alerts at www.dart.org. This will allow them to stay up-to-date with any new developments regarding this issue as well as any DART service alerts and/or disruptions that may occur at any time.  


Commuters can also track the SMU shuttles in real-time and receive notifications by downloading the DoubleMap app or use the website at http://smu.doublemap.com/map/.

  • SMU IN SESSION SERVICE for the SMU Express (768/440) route  When classes are in session runs Monday through Saturday
    Hours of operation are approximately 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • SMU NON-SESSION SERVICE Operates when regular undergraduate classes are not in session: Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer Break, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and Good Friday. Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.  No Saturday service when classes are not in session.  SMU Express 768/440 Information

Out of session (2 shuttles) schedule begins on Monday, May 16th and ends on Monday, August 22nd

• Graduation is on Saturday, May 14th– last day for Saturday service.   
• University Offices are closed for July 4th No Service.
• No Service on November 25 (Thanksgiving)  December 25 (Christmas Day).
• No Service January 1 (New Year Day).
• Saturday Service resumes January 14
• No Service January 16 (MLK Day)
• Tuesday, January 17 – In Session (3 shuttles) Schedule Resumes/First Day of Spring Semester Class

* Please Note - As part of the DART’s systemwide redesign, the SMU Express shuttle route designation will change from route 768 to route 440.  The Museum Express shuttle route designation will change from  route 743 to route 442.  Both the SMU Express and Museum Express shuttles will continue to operate along their current route pathways, only the route numbers will change.
