Welcome to SMU! The Parking and ID Card Services Office offers solutions and directions to those who need to move around the campus. Reshaping public perception. Discovering a new way of doing business. Our mission is to provide SMU identification cards and a comprehensive array of parking services for the campus community, as well as visitors.

Log in with your SMU ID number and password at SMU employees and students who need a new or replacement SMU ID card visit the Parking and ID Card Services Office during business hours at your convenience.

A parking permit is required to park on campus year round. Below is information on how to get the right permit for your needs.

  • Students registered for Summer Semester 2020 classes may order a permit valid through August 1st 2020 online. Students registered for Fall 2020 may order the permit for the upcoming 2020-21 academic year online (just log on to your My Parking Account using your SMU ID and Password) Payment is made after the permit is ordered on, not on the parking website. 
  • Employees may obtain permits in our office or online by logging on to their Parking Portal account.  Contact us for more information at
  • Visitors can purchase permits in our office, online as a guest or use any self-pay & park location referenced on the visitor parking map (see lower right).
  • Please note Students and Employees - To help enhance application and data security, effective October 14, 2019, Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be required to access this service.

2020-21 Academic Year

Student and Employee "Decal Permits" will be replaced by "Virtual Permits" using License Plate Recognition software to validate the permit in the system.

Parking Summer enforcement schedule is in effect 


  • Summer Parking Rules Now in Effect

    Summer parking rules are now in effect through Friday, August 14.
    Full parking enforcement will begin Monday, June 1. 
    Enforcement hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
    Permits are required to park your car on campus during the summer.
    Lettered employee lots remain parking by assignment only and requires the appropriate permit. 
    Employees may also park in any AUP, Resident or Student areas with their permit.  View the campus parking map.  
    Normal parking enforcement resumes Monday, August 17.
  • Regular Permit and metered parking for Fall and Spring is enforced  Monday to Thursday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. 
  • Permits are required to park your car on campus at all times all year round.
  • Students with valid SMU parking permits may park in the area corresponding to their permit: Resident "yellow" or AUP "red" on the campus parking map.
  • Lettered employee lots (Blue) remain parking by assignment only and the appropriate permit is required.
  • Employees may park in AUP or as indicated on the campus parking map for the type of permit.

Parkmobile, LLC, the leading provider of on-demand and prepaid mobile payments for on- and off-street parking announced today its partnership with Southern Methodist University to provide mobile payments for metered and select parking centers on the campus.

Visitors will be able to use the app on-street throughout the campus metered parking spaces, Binkley Parking Center, Moody Parking Center and Hillcrest Parking Center using Parkmobile’s app for iPhone, Android, and Windows phones or by calling the toll-free number on the green meter stickers and signs. Parkmobile’s mobile payments system is very simple and easy to use and contact less. Use one of our parking centers on campus by printing the permit with a Park Mobile QR code online for access using the pay station to read the QR.  

Customers first must register by either downloading the mobile app in their phone’s app store, online at, or calling the toll-free number on Parkmobile signage. Need assistance contact ParkMobile Customer Service at 877-727-5457.  Once registered, they may immediately begin using the system. 




DART Transit GoPass, riders are able to commute to campus by bus and rail with public transportation that is reliable, economical and hassle free! You must be currently registered for Fall 2020 semester's classes, have a photo ID and your current US cellphone registered on your account to be eligible to download a 2020 student DART GoPass transit pass. 

Your new 2020  DART Transit GoPass will be delivered right to your cell phone. Check out what the GoPass App looks like at Just download DART's free GoPass Mobile Ticketing Application at the App Store on your cell phone and then register your device by clicking on "My Tickets" in the GoPass App. Once you’ve successfully downloaded GoPass, click here more information.

Please note: The SMU Express and Museum Express shuttles remain free to all riders and do not require a DART Transit Pass to ride.

The SMU Express 768 shuttles will operate the reduced “Out of Session” schedule during spring break and the first two weeks following spring break Monday March 16 through Saturday April 4.   

The 768 SMU Express shuttles will resume operating the full “In Session” schedule beginning Monday April 6. 

The 743 Museum Express shuttle will continue to operate its route as normally scheduled.

Community members can sign up for Rider Alerts at This will allow them to stay up-to-date with any new developments regarding this issue as well as any DART service alerts and/or disruptions that may occur at any time.  

Commuters can also track the SMU shuttles in real-time and receive notifications by downloading the DoubleMap app or use the website at

    Operates when regular undergraduate classes are not in session: Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer Break, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and Good Friday. No Saturday service when classes are not in session.  SMU Express 768 Non-Session schedules
