Favorite thing about SMU: It’s hard to pick just one—among my favorite things about SMU are: the strong academic programs and research opportunities for students; our diverse, welcoming campus community; the beautiful buildings and grounds (it’s no wonder our campus was named the 2nd most beautiful campus in the U.S.!); the close proximity to the amazing city of Dallas, and last, but not least; the contagious school spirit that goes beyond our athletic programs, but is felt throughout the entire University. Pony up!

Favorite place on campus: The Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports. Not because I’m using the state-of-the-art workout facilities or beautiful pools, but because it houses the brand-new Starbucks!

Favorite place in Dallas: My favorite place in Dallas is the Bishop Arts neighborhood. It is incredibly diverse, multicultural and funky. On one corner, I can get amazing pupusas from a small El Salvadorian restaurant and on the next corner eat at one of the many delicious, incredibly creative restaurants where all the Dallas foodies go!

Favorite restaurant near campus: So many great options-- but I'll go with the Dallas-based, Velvet Taco! They take traditional street tacos and add their own creative global spin. From the traditional Mexican flavors, to Southern, to Indian, and beyond. Definitely don't miss out on their delicious sides. My favorites are their Elote Corn and their loaded Crisp Tots with Local Egg-- it's all so delicious!

What I recommend during your stay in Dallas: Check out the Arts District. There you’ll find the Dallas Museum of Art (which is awesome and, best of all, free!), the Nasher Sculpture Center (incredibly unique collection of contemporary and modern sculptures), and Klyde Warren Park (a very cool, large park which sits above one of Dallas’ busiest highways and has delicious food trucks!).
