Braden Norris

Dr. Braden Norris joined SMU in August 2026. Braden's teaching experience includes Introduction to Sport Management, Sport Finance, and graduate level courses including Event and Facility Management, Sport Marketing, and Research Methods.

Prior to joining SMU, Braden was an Assistant Professor at Sam Houston State University (2024-2026) where he was proud to be the faculty lead for sport management student events that raised over $40,000 for pediatric cancer.

Braden earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. From Indiana University - Bloomington During his master's degree he served as a student manager for the women's basketball team. While obtaining his doctoral degree, Braden was a teaching assistant as well as led his own courses while also being awarded the Indiana University Sport Management Doctoral Student of the Year in 2024.

Braden's research interests involve sports gambling and NCAA student-athletes. He has published work examining the behaviors of NCAA student-athletes that gambled on sports during their eligibility. He has also presented his work at numerous conferences such as Applied Sport Management Association (ASMA) and North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM).
