Biographical Note:

A. Elizabeth Jones served as assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs from 2001 to 2005. From 1995 to 1998, she was U.S. ambassador to Kazakhstan, and in 2000-2001 she was special advisor for Caspian energy. During the Obama administration, she served as deputy special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan and acting secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs. In October 2021, she was appointed coordinator for Afghan relocation efforts.
