Cox School Academic Policy Committees
The Purpose of the Committees
The Academic Policy Committees at the SMU Cox School of Business meets as-needed to review curriculum changes, proposals of new programming, and policies that the academic community of the Cox School will follow. As well, the committees ensure that whatever the Cox School deems appropriate is consistent with the academic and strategic goals of SMU as a whole.
The goals of the Committees include:
- Assessment of Cox School programming to ensure it aligns with SMU's mission and strategic planning
- Review and approve/deny proposals for new academic courses or programs
- Assessment on if current programming meets the needs of students: professionally (in the workforce) and personally (in one's own edification)
- Continuously assess for areas of improvement across the Cox School
Other matters that the Committees review:
- Course revisions and modifications
- Eliminations of programs
- Creation of certificate programs
- Other substantial educational adjustments
