Fast-growing Frisco Company Moves up from No. 5 Last Year

Dallas (SMU) Nov. 16, 2017 – Frisco-based J.W. Logistics, LLC, which provides tailored delivery solutions for the nation’s largest e-commerce companies, is the fastest-growing entrepreneurial company in the Dallas area, according to the SMU Cox School of Business’s Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship. The company’s top entrepreneurial status was unveiled at the 27th Annual SMU Cox Dallas 100™ Awards Ceremony and Banquet Thursday, Nov. 16 at the Omni Dallas Hotel. Dallas 100™, co-founded by the Caruth Institute at SMU Cox, honors the ingenuity, commitment and perseverance of the fastest-growing privately held entrepreneurial businesses in the Dallas area. The event annually reveals the rankings of the top 100 Dallas entrepreneurial companies based on percentage sales growth and absolute dollar growth over the previous three years.

CEO Jim Wicker founded J.W. Logistics in 2011 and has overseen growth into 64 markets across the country, with company drivers delivering an average of 2.5 million e-commerce packages daily. The company’s steady growth garnered it the No.5 position last year, and a place among the top 10 of the Dallas 100™ for four years in a row. J.W. Logistics is also ranked in the top 10 percent of this year’s “Inc. 5000,” Inc. magazine’s ranking of the fastest growing companies in America. The “Inc. 5000” lists the company as having “1,238 percent growth” in three years and “$199 million in revenue in 2016.”

“This year’s No. 1 company is not a household name, and yet, like all our Dallas 100™ winners, its existence profoundly enhances our area economy,” said Simon Mak, associate director of the Caruth Institute. “We recognize fast growing privately-held corporations, proprietorships or partnerships headquartered in the area that often don’t get attention, but which have created jobs and generated wealth for their founders, employees and our economy.”

The Caruth Institute, working with the accounting firm BKD LLP CPA and Advisors examined sales from hundreds of companies for 2014 to 2016, the last year for which complete data is available. The winners represent a broad spectrum of Dallas-area businesses. The winning companies collectively generated $3.2 billion in sales in 2016, according to Jerry White, the Linda A. and Kenneth R. Morris Endowed Director of the Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship. They grew at an average annual growth rate of 106 percent from 2014 to 2016 and collectively created 6,000 jobs in that same period.

“The entrepreneurial spirit that drives these companies helps make Dallas a dynamic city for business,” said White. “We feel it’s only right to shine the spotlight on their hard work and the contributions they make to our economy.”

The Dallas 100™, presented by the Caruth Institute at SMU Cox, was sponsored this year by Avison Young; BKD LLP; CARR Intellectual Property Law; Mass Mutual; Allegiant Wealth Management; The Dallas Business Journal; Executive Press; and KRLD 1080 News Radio. Along with J.W. Logistics, 99 other Dallas-based companies were announced as SMU Cox Dallas 100™ winners to an audience of about 1,000 guests.

The top 10 companies were given special recognition: No.1) J.W. Logistics, LLC, logistics and transportation; No.2) Preston Hollow Capital, LLC, independent specialty finance; No.3) Revolution Retail Systems, LLC, cash automation and recycling tech; No.4) Signature Renovations Group, LLC, commercial and multi-family roofing contractor; No.5) ARCO/Murray Design Build, premier full-service general contractor; No.6) Freedom Powersports, powersport sales, parts, service; No.7) Dunhill Homes, new home construction; No.8) Pegasus Logistics Group, logistics; No.9) Hisun Motors, powersport vehicles; and No.10) Newline Interactive, interactive touchscreens and software solutions.

Jim Wicker, JW Logistics
Jim Wicker, CEO of J.W. Logistics, is perfectly fine with flying under the radar. That might be a little harder now given the rapid growth of his company.
