Counselors

Individual and group counseling services are provided by graduate counseling students in SMU’s Master of Science in Counseling Program, which prepares individuals for professional practice as counselors.  Experienced doctoral and master's-level licensed faculty and staff members direct the Center and supervise the graduate counseling students.

Fees

The clinic provides low cost counseling services, with fees as low as zero, to ensure that services are affordable to all regardless of circumstances.  There is no charge for the intake session. Currently, the Center takes payment in the form of cash or check.  The clinic does not bill insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare, but provides a receipts for all payments should you want to file yourself.

Monday-Thursday, 11:30a.m.-7:30 p.m. (last appointment at 6:30 p.m.)

Appointments

The clinic offers both daytime and early evening appointments.  To schedule an appointment, call 214-768-6789. If not done immediately, a student counselor will return your call to complete a phone assessment/screening. After the phone assessment, if the clinic can potentially meet your needs, an in-person intake will be scheduled. After this appointment, you will either be paired with a student counselor for services or be referred to another appropriate service provider.

For guardians of minors, the in-person intake will be conducted without your children or young teens attending.

The clinic does not communicate via e-mail due to confidentiality.    

Bilingual Counseling

The clinic offers bilingual counseling to clients when there are bilingual counseling students available.

Crisis Counseling

The clinic does not provide routine crisis counseling. Should a mental health emergency ensue, please contact 9-1-1 or go to the nearest hospital for assistance.
