Xin Qiao

Dr. Xin Qiao is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Education Policy & Leadership Department in Simmons School of Education & Human Development at the Southern Methodist University (SMU). She holds a Ph.D. in Measurement, Statistics and Evaluation from the University of Maryland College Park, and a M.S. in Statistics, Measurement, Assessment, and Research Technology from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Xin Qiao's research focuses on educational measurement and psychometrics.

At SMU, Dr. Qiao is working on a variety of projects relating to oral fluency (ORF) assessments with Dr. Akihito Kamata including 1) developing novel statistical methods to measure oral reading proficiency and equating reading fluency scores 2) employing machine learning methods to analyze audio data obtained from the ORG assessments for psychometric purposes such as automatic scoring and cognitive diagnosis.
