Biographical Note:

John Beyrle served as U.S. ambassador to Russia from 2008 to 2012.  His other positions in government have included director for Russian, Ukrainian, and Eurasian affairs at the National Security Council from 1993 to 1995, deputy chief of mission at the U.S. embassy in Moscow from 2003 to 2005, and U.S. ambassador to Bulgaria from 2005 to 2008. He is currently the director and chairman of the U.S. Russia Foundation.
