The Office of the Provost oversees all of the academic programs and initiatives offered by the University. In addition to its main campus in Dallas, SMU provides academic programs through SMU-in-Taos at the campus in Taos, New Mexico, and SMU-in-Legacy in Plano, Texas. SMU also provides international study around the globe for undergraduates through its 32 Education Abroad programs in 24 countries.

Division Of Student Affairs

As the professors shape the students within the walls of the classrooms, the Division of Student Affairs strives to nurture the complete student outside the academic halls. Among the division’s many programs, services, activities and learning opportunities are career services; health, faith and wellness; leadership development; and residential life. Through the spirited music of the Mustang Band, the thoughtful legislation of the Student Senate, the inspiring programming of the Student Foundation and Program Council, and the healthy competition on the intramural and club sports field, the overall SMU experience fosters the development of a student’s integrity, responsibility and leadership ability.

Campus Planning And Plant Operations

Whether walking to class on a tree-lined walkway or studying amid SMU’s award-winning landscaping, students’ collegiate experience is enhanced significantly by the beauty of the campus. Improvements to SMU’s grounds are guided by a Master Plan, which was initiated in 1999 and is updated frequently to reflect any changes. There are many opportunities to augment the surroundings on each of SMU’s three campuses. Some of the many recent improvements include green spaces and gardens; walkways and alcoves; and water features and fountains.
