Kelly Franklin Biography

Kelly Franklin comes to the Hilltop as a doctoral student in the English Rhetoric and Composition program at TCU.

After graduating from UCLA with a degree in American Literature, she taught English at the K-12 level in California and Texas. Kelly later earned a master’s degree in English Literature from Boise State University, while teaching at BSU and local community colleges.  After relocating to Texas in 2021, Kelly was an adjunct English instructor at TCU and UT Arlington. With twenty years of teaching experience, Kelly’s scholarship is centered around Black Feminism and Black Girlhood Studies and she will be piloting the STILE Project, Storytelling thru Inquiry and Literacy Expression.  Kelly is also a wife and mother of 4 beautiful children who keep her inspired and motivated. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, vibing to music, spending time with family, and a good CrossFit workout!
