About
Dr. Ruben Gomez earned his doctoral degree from East Texas A&M University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor–Supervisor in the state of Texas.
Prior to joining Southern Methodist University, Dr. Gomez spent 14 years in private clinical practice and served as a visiting instructor at the University of Texas at Tyler, where he taught group therapy and practicum courses. His clinical expertise includes anxiety, anger management, couples counseling, insomnia, and trauma. He has extensive experience working with tweens, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
Dr. Gomez has received specialized training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), anger resolution, and humanistic sand tray therapy. His doctoral research focused on the use of humanistic sand tray therapy within couples counseling.
