The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History

The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History is a nonprofit founded in 1994 with the mission to improve the teaching and learning of American history through educational programs and resources. The Institute's extensive network of eminent historians and the Gilder Lehrman Collection, containing  87,000 documents, provides deep expertise on five centuries of American History. The Institute works to bring these resources into the K-12 classroom through its public events, publications, posters, videos, exhibitions, essays, and website full of rich primary sources.
