LaiYee Leong

LaiYee Leong is a teaching professor and the Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Government at Georgetown University in Washington DC. She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science and B.A. in English (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Yale University. Affiliated with CPH since 2014, LaiYee led the Collective Memory Project's work on Transatlantic Diplomacy After 9/11: the US and Norway and Post-9/11 Policy in East and Southeast Asia. The inaugural season of the CPH podcast Firsthand History, “Cross Currents: Navigating US-Norway Relations After 9/11,” draws on observations and excerpts from the oral history interviews that LaiYee conducted. LaiYee previously served as the program director of CPH's Article II Society. She also taught political science at SMU, winning the Provost's Teaching Recognition Award, given for “a commitment to excellence and a consummate dedication to teaching and learning," in 2023.
