PMBA Career Management
Talent is the defining competitive advantage across the global business landscape, making talent acquisition a critical element for the continued success of any organization.
The Career Management Center (CMC) partners with MBA candidates, alumni, and employers to build collaborative relationships that culminate in successful careers. Our mission is twofold:
- To support our students and graduates in assessing their skill sets and career aspirations and to provide timely and specific preparation as they evaluate goals and options; and
- To develop, cultivate, and grow corporate partnerships with the organizations that recruit MBAs at the Cox School of Business.

Career Management Center Resources
- Career Management Class: In your 2nd semester, you will have the opportunity to cover a full range of career management topics such as job search strategies, effective writing, interviewing skills, researching companies and industries, salary negotiations and others.
- CareerLeader™ Self-Assessment: Developed at the Harvard Business School, this assessment is designed for people who are interested in a career in business. You can map your results to over 27 unique business careers, comparing your profile with those of happy and satisfied professionals in each respective field. This is assessment is then used by you and your career coach to determine what might be the best career paths for you.
- Career Counseling: Career coaches are available to meet with you individually to discuss your career objectives, job search strategies, and resources available to you with a focus on career mapping and planning.
- Resume Critiques: You will be required to write a resume that effectively communicates your skills and experiences. Writing your resume is a critical element of your job search and you will find that it is a process of continuous refinement and improvement.
- Interview Prep: Working with your career coach, fellow students, and clubs, you will be able to hone your interview skills for specific fields and industries across both behavioral and technical and case-based interviews.
Career Management Center Events
- Industry Roundtables: This is a series of networking events which connect students with employers from various industries and/or functions such as finance, marketing, real estate, consulting, international student connections, healthcare, private equity/venture capital, entrepreneurial connections, and more.
- Company Mock Interviews: Several of our strongest company relationships and Cox MBA Alumni volunteer their time and interviewing expertise each year to evaluate the thoroughness of Cox MBAs’ interview preparation and interviewing skills.
- National MBA Career Fairs and Consortium Events: Cox is a participating member of MBA Women International, National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA), the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA), and the Reaching Out LGBT Organization.
- Company Information Sessions: Many companies conduct general information sessions prior to on-campus interviews. These are typically held in the early evenings and can provide you with valuable information about companies’ cultures and values.
- On-Campus Recruiting: On-campus recruiting offers a convenient means for companies to select and interview students on-site at the Cox School. Companies will provide job opportunities that will be posted on the Career Center's recruiting software system. Students interested in specific jobs will submit their resume for consideration. The companies will then pre-select students who they want to interview, and schedule interviews using the interview suite located adjacent to the Career Center.
