Biography

Steven Lerner is Professor of Practice and Director of SMU’s MS in Mechanical Engineering program. Dr. Lerner holds ten US patents and has extensive corporate executive leadership experience, including Chief Technology Officer and Corporate SVP of Praxair, Inc (now Linde), a Fortune 250 global company providing industrial gases, healthcare services, electronic materials and coatings. Dr. Lerner has served extensively on boards and advisory boards including Praxair Technology Inc., Industrial Research Institute Inc., Princeton University Mechanical Engineering Department, State University of New York at Buffalo, University of Connecticut, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and multiple tech firms in alternative energy, biofuels, and materials industries.
