SMU's DeGolyer Library

The free historical exhibition "Hail to the Chief" is an entertaining exhibition of presidential memorabilia from SMU's Hervey A. Priddy Collection of American Political Memorabilia, the Doris A. and Lawrence H. Budner Collection on Theodore Roosevelt, as well as books, pamphlets, photographs, maps, and ephemera from other DeGolyer Library collections. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

For the first two weeks of the exhibit, SMU was proud to host George Washington's copy of the Acts of Congress, including the U.S. Constitution, complete with his personal annotations. This book was recently purchased by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, which, in cooperation with the National Archives and Records Administration, is displaying the volume in each of the 13 U.S. presidential libraries. Because of the unique relationship between SMU and the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, SMU was able to include the volume in the DeGolyer exhibition.
