Impressions of Europe: Nineteenth-Century Vistas by Martín Rico
The Spanish painter Martín Rico y Ortega was one of the most important artists of the second half of the 19th century. In the spring of 2013, as part of the continuing collaboration between the Meadows Museum and the Museo Nacional del Prado, the Meadows will host a monographic showing of Rico’s work, marking the first retrospective ever to be presented on the artist.

Survey a selection of catechisms printed in Europe and the Americas between the 16th and 19th centuries. These manuals of Christian doctrine, often organized in the form of questions with accompanying answers, were utilized by both Protestant and Catholic authors to convey fundamental religious teachings.
