Showcase Your Research

Institutional Repositories

SMU Scholar

SMU Scholar, SMU’s institutional repository, showcases SMU’s research and achievements by providing open access to scholarly works of the SMU academic community. SMU Scholar allows members of the SMU academic community to submit scholarly works and research data, create research journals, and host conferences. The repository provides unrestricted access to original scholarly works and previously published materials.

SMU Scholar complements scholarly publishing rather than replacing it. You retain all rights to your work and are free to publish it when and where you like in most cases.

Benefits of adding your work to SMU Scholar:

  • Your work is indexed by search engines and harvested by open access registries, making it easier to find and cite.
  • All materials in the repository are given a persistent URL, making it easy for you and others to link to your work.
  • Placing research materials in SMU Scholar often satisfies public access mandate for grant recipients.

Electronic Theses & Dissertations (ETD)

SMU’s open access electronic thesis and dissertation (ETD) programs are hosted in SMU Scholar, allowing the research, work and intellectual output of the university's students to reach a global academic community. The ETD programs are a partnership between SMU Libraries, the Office of Research and Graduate Studies, and the Office of Instructional Technology.

Before submitting the ETD to SMU Scholar, the student and their advisor must fill out and sign the Deposit Agreement Form. The ETD Submission tutorial guides the user through the ETD submission process.

Working Papers

Publishing your working papers in a repository provides increased exposure and persistence for your work.

For Cox faculty, learn more about submitting your work to SSRN, which will also add it to SMU Scholar. Law faculty, please contact Marja Pietilainen-Rom at mprom@smu.edu for assistance.

SMU Dataverse

SMU Dataverse Repository allows you to store, publish, and share datasets in compliance with funding agreements.
