Open Access Publishing Grant
SMU’s Open Access Publishing Grant helps SMU faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students publish their work openly. The grant can be used to help pay article processing charges (APCs) for Open Access (OA) articles, book chapters, or books that are not already covered by SMU Libraries’ publishing agreements.
Criteria
- Open to current SMU faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students
- An SMU author must be the corresponding author
- Limit of one grant per author per year
- Eligible publications include peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and book chapters
- Publications in predatory journals (as identified by Cabell’s Journalytics Academic) are not eligible
- Funding is for forthcoming publications only; previously paid charges are not covered
- Publications must be openly available at publication with no embargo
- Other grant or departmental publication funding must be used first
Funding
Open Access Publishing Grant funds for the current term have been fully awarded, and we are not accepting applications at this time. The grant will reopen in the new year when additional funding becomes available.
