Professor Orly Mazur Elected to American Law Institute
Orly Mazur, Professor of Law, has been elected as a member of the American Law Institute. Professor Mazur’s is a prominent tax law scholar, with her scholarship focusing on the intersection of tax law and technology, international and comparative taxation, and taxation in the digital economy.
The American Law Institute is the leading independent organization in the United States, producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and otherwise improve the law. By participating in the Institute’s work, members can influence the development of the law in both existing and emerging areas, work with other eminent lawyers, judges, and academics, give back to a profession to which they are deeply dedicated, and contribute to the public good.
Members are elected to ALI and not simply enrolled, based on professional achievement and their interest in improving the law. To be considered for membership, a current ALI member must submit a nomination, and two others must second it. The Institute then votes on election. This deliberative process means membership often comes after lawyers have built a record of excellence, making inclusion a recognized mark of distinction.
“The American Law Institute is, at its core, a public service organization. Our work is made possible by members who generously contribute their time and expertise to the betterment of the administration of justice,” said ALI President Wallace B. Jefferson. “I am proud to welcome this new class of elected members to that tradition of service and grateful for the perspectives they will bring to our work.”
Professor Mazur’s scholarly work has recently been featured in several academic journals and other scholarly works.
