Emma Hackney Memorial Scholarship Fund

Jackson Walker LLP has established the Jackson Walker Endowed Scholarship Fund in Memory of Emma Hackney at SMU Dedman School of Law.

During her time at Dedman Law, Hackney served as an associate in the Hunter Legal Center for Victims of Crimes Against Women Clinic, was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient, and worked as a legal intern with the SMU COVID-19 Legal Helpline Project. After graduating in 2023, she joined Jackson Walker as a finance attorney.

Hackney was deeply committed to serving others, dedicating her time and talents to organizations making a meaningful impact, including the Alzheimer’s Association and Dallas Scottish Rite for Children. Prior to law school, she worked at Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, an experience that strengthened her commitment to supporting children and families and helped shape her lifelong dedication to service. Whether volunteering, advocating, or lending a steady hand behind the scenes, she approached service with the same care and intention she brought to her legal work.

The fund was established by Jackson Walker colleagues and friends to honor Hackney’s life, career, and lasting impact. The scholarship reflects her commitment to service and ensures her legacy continues through students who share her dedication to helping others.

The scholarship will be awarded to current or incoming Dedman Law students who demonstrate strong citizenship through involvement in student organizations, volunteer work, clinic participation, mentorship, and similar efforts.

Through this scholarship, Emma Hackney’s legacy will live on at Dedman Law, supporting students who share her commitment to serving others and making a meaningful impact in their communities.
