Valentina Barros Velin
Valentina Barros Velin is from Brentwood California, originally from Quito, Ecuador. As a President's Scholar and Pre-Law Scholar, she is pursuing a degree in International Studies and Psychology with minors in French and Public Policy & Foreign Affairs. At SMU, Valentina is the managing editor for the undergraduate journal The Dialogue, the marketing manager for the Tate Lecture Series through Student Foundation, and an Engage Dallas Student Director. She has also served as an Ignite Fellow for Teach For America and as a research assistant for the Deason Criminal Justice Reform Center. Passionate about education access and equity, Valentina has spearheaded global projects such as the International Youth Leadership Program with Toastmasters International. After graduation, Valentina aspires to attend law school and work with international organizations to reform the education system. By working at the intersection of law, business, and education policy, Valentina aims to create systems that empower students in underserved communities globally.
