Alumni and Associates Board

Mission

The SMU Tower Center’s thriving community of alumni and associates supports the mission of the Center by ensuring the success and representing the interests of current students and alumni to the Executive Board of the SMU Tower Center.

The Tower Center Alumni and Associates Board contributes toward current undergraduate student development through mentorship and funding to sustain and enhance the Tower Center’s primary mission: to promote the study of politics and international affairs and to stimulate an interest in ethical public service among undergraduates.

Background

In 2019, the Tower Center celebrated its 25th year anniversary.  The first cohort of the SMU Tower Scholars Program, a multidisciplinary minor in Public Policy and International Affairs, graduated in 2017. Prior to the SMU Tower Scholars Program, the Tower Center Student Forum was an active body of students fostering academic dialogue and facilitating a marketplace of ideas through events, scholarship, and academic publications.

Today, the Tower Center supports current students through both the SMU Tower Scholars Program and the Tower Center Student Forum. Alumni and associates of the Tower Center have been reconnecting in recent years and includes over 110 members.

In October 2024, the Center celebrated its 30th anniversary, honoring three decades of inspiring and educating the next generation of thoughtful leaders. That same month, the newly formed SMU Tower Center Alumni & Associates Board was announced, positioning the community for continued growth, connection, and impact in the years ahead.
