Internships
Economics majors can gain valuable professional experience while earning academic credit through ECO 4185 – Internship in Economics. The course allows students to connect their economics coursework with practical experience in a professional setting while reflecting on the skills and knowledge gained through their internship.
Students enrolled in ECO 4185 complete weekly journal entries reflecting on their internship experiences, professional development and lessons learned throughout the semester.
Course Requirements
ECO 4185 is reserved for economics majors and requires approval from the Director of Undergraduate Studies.
- Students earn one hour of pass/fail free elective credit.
- The internship and ECO 4185 must be completed during the same semester.
- Students must complete a minimum of 100 hours of work experience during the semester.
- Students must complete the required DocuSign application in its entirety at least one week before the first day of class.
Students interested in receiving credit for an internship should plan ahead to ensure all requirements and approvals are completed before the enrollment deadline.
