Mission

The mission of the SMU Health Service is to provide quality, caring, cost effective and convenient ambulatory healthcare and health education services in association with other university departments that promote healthy lifestyles and enhance academic productivity leading to satisfying and rewarding college experiences. 

Overview

The Dr. Bob Smith Health Center is a convenient medical clinic located on the SMU campus for diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury. The clinic is staffed by mid-level providers', registered nurses, pharmacists, and laboratory and x-ray technologists.

Services include medical consultations with physicians, minor surgery, care of injuries, treatment of minor illnesses, immunizations, and continuation of treatments such as allergy shots. The Health Center also offers limited special care in dermatology, gynecology, sports medicine.  

Counseling Services for various concerns are provided by psychiatrists and psychologists in the Health Center. Additionally, the Office of Health Promotion serves as a resource for health information on campus.

The Health Center is certified by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) for meeting rigorous nationally recognized standards and committing to delivering the highest quality of care. Counseling Services is also accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS) for maintaining professional standards and quality service to our students.
