Policies and Procedures

COVID-19 Information

Mask Policy

Masks are optional on the SMU campus in indoor spaces with a few notable exceptions.

CAPE instructors have the discretion to require masks in their instructional spaces.
Instructors will communicate their classroom requirements to students by email, on Canvas and in their course syllabi (if applicable).

Please note that public transportation to campus operated by DART also requires masks to comply with local and federal regulations.

Contact Tracing and Case Reporting

CAPE instructors and students who test positive for COVID-19, or are close contacts of a positive case, must report that information to SMU CAPE via this form.

SMU will share the information submitted with Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS). DCHHS representatives will complete contact tracing. During a contact tracing interview, DCHHS representatives will discuss next steps, answer questions and provide resources. Learn more about the Dallas County contact tracing process here.

Take Preventive Measures

SMU continues to place the highest priority on the health and well-being of our campus community and expects everyone to practice good preventive hygiene and regularly monitor their health.
