• Knowledge of choral rehearsal techniques and conducting
• Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail
• Familiarity with both contemporary and traditional worship
• Basic worship-technology and computer skills—or a willingness to learn
• An understanding of music licensing/copyright and church safety practices
• A collaborative, encouraging spirit and a heart for developing the gifts of others

Second Baptist Church in Liberty, Missouri, seeks to hire a full-time Associate Pastor of Worship and Music. Position Summary
The Organist provides musical leadership and accompaniment for Traditional worship and related music events at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. This role supports the music ministry’s mission to enhance worship through excellence in music, collaboration, and faithful artistry. The Organist works closely with the Director of Music and Worship, choirs, ensembles, and clergy to provide music that reflects and complements the theological and liturgical focus of each service.

The Organist is a vital member of the worship and music ministry, serving not only as a musician but also as a minister through music. This individual is enthusiastic, creative, and deeply engaged—someone who understands this work as both an artistic calling and a ministry to the church. The Organist is a team player who brings excellence, motivation, care for people, and a collaborative spirit, along with a passion for supporting and enlivening congregational song.

Office hours are flexible, allowing for space for outside performances and creative opportunities; but commitment to worship, rehearsals, and the life of the church should remain central.

* Funerals, weddings, and other separately contracted services are compensated separately and are not included in the organist’s regular weekly responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities
Worship Leadership & Accompaniment

Provide organ music for the 11:00 AM Traditional Worship Service and scheduled special services throughout the year, including Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, and Easter, as assigned by the Director of Music and Worship.

Accompany Choral Union during Wednesday rehearsals and Sunday morning worship.

Accompany Adoramus Chamber Choir at weekly Sunday morning rehearsals and scheduled worship services.

Provide accompaniment for other ensembles in Traditional worship services as needed, including but not limited to: Children’s Choir, Youth Choir, Orchestra, handbells, and soloists.

Rehearse individually with section leaders, soloists, or instrumentalists as needed.

Prepare and perform preludes, postludes, and other service music that support the liturgical themes and enhance congregational worship.

Promote responsible use of the sanctuary organ and assist in coordinating access for guest organists, recitals, educational events, and other approved performances.

Occasional additional rehearsals or services may be required during major seasons, including choir retreat, Advent, Holy Week, and Easter. These will be scheduled in advance when possible and may require adjusted office hours within the 25-hour weekly expectation.

Administrative & Collaborative Duties

Attend weekly worship review meetings to coordinate with worship coordinator, pastors, music and A/V staff.

Maintain accurate service music (Prelude/Postlude) information in Planning Center (ideally four weeks in advance) including titles, composers/arrangers, and other details needed by worship, communications, and production staff.

Collaborate with the Music and Worship Administrative Assistant, Adoramus Director, clergy, and other worship staff to ensure consistent communication and planning for all musical aspects of worship.

Perform other related duties to be assigned by Director of Music and Worship

Instrument Maintenance and Care

Coordinate organ and piano tuning and maintenance with the Director of Music and Worship and approved service providers. Promptly report repair or maintenance needs and maintain appropriate records.

Wedding and Funerals (Separate compensation)

Provide organ music for weddings, including consultation with couples and coordination with soloists and other musicians. Weddings are compensated separately.

Collaborate with the Wedding Coordinator and Wedding couple to select and provide music appropriate for the service and consistent with church policies.

Provide organ music when requested for funerals or memorial services, including consultation with families and preparation with soloists and additional musicians, as needed. (separate compensation).

Collaborate with Funeral Coordinator and Clergy to select and provide appropriate music for the service.

Qualifications

Strong proficiency in organ and piano performance, sight-reading, and choral accompaniment.

Knowledge of sacred music across traditional and contemporary genres, with sensitivity to United Methodist theology and liturgy.

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with professional musicians, volunteers, and church staff.

Ability to communicate warmly and effectively with church leadership, music ministry volunteers, and members of the congregation, while working with care and sensitivity among diverse groups of people.

Compensation and Benefits

The Anne S. and Henry B. Paup Sanctuary Pipe Organ, built by Dan Garland and Associates and consecrated in 2015, is the third largest pipe organ in Texas. It has five manuals and 160 ranks of pipes and is classified as an American eclectic instrument.

The Worship Technical Director works with our team to run the audio and visual aspects of worship. We have one worship service at 10:50 am and you will be setting up and tearing down AV equipment for the day as well as working with a team to run livestream, cameras, ProPresenter, and our soundboard. Minister of Music

First Baptist Church (FBC), located in historic downtown Savannah, Georgia is a congregation affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. FBC was chartered in 1800 and its current sanctuary completed in 1833, making it the oldest standing house of worship in Georgia. It is one of the very few Southern churches that remained open throughout the Civil War.

FBC is a growing congregation in part due to our commitment to following the example of Jesus Christ, who welcomed, accepted, and loved all individuals. Our church has a long history of an excellent music ministry. We currently have both an Adult Choir and a handbell choir. Our church has also supported the Savannah Men’s Chorale and other community musical groups. We have an extensive music library that has provided a variety of choral anthems, both old and new. Our sanctuary houses a 1922 E.M. Skinner Pipe Organ of 68 ranks. It is the oldest and largest in the Savannah region.

Position Summary
-Be a pastoral musician engaged in their own spiritual growth as well as in the lives of the congregation
-Have essential music skills, demonstrating choral conducting, and keyboard/organ skills as well as a diverse repertoire that can enhance our liturgical worship
-Have a graduate degree in music and have experience serving in a church music program
-Collaborate with pastor and other staff to plan each Sunday morning service as well as special services (concerts, funerals, weddings, community events)
-Oversee the use and care of our musical instruments and music library resources
-Manage the music budget including scheduling and hiring supplemental instrumentalists
