Rev. Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles

Director

Rev. Dr. Jaime Clark Soles

Professor of New Testament and Altshuler Distinguished Teaching Professor at Perkins School of Theology.

An ordained American Baptist minister, Rev. Dr. Clark-Soles received her B.A. from Stetson University where she focused on both Philosophy and Russian Studies. She earned her M.Div. from Yale Divinity School and her Ph.D. in New Testament from Yale University.

Rev. Dr. Clark-Soles is the author of numerous books and essays, enjoys speaking widely, and writes for both academic and popular audiences. Her particular areas of expertise and publication include:

  • The Johannine Literature (the Gospel of John; 1, 2, and 3 John; and Revelation)
  • Evil, Suffering, Death, and Afterlife
  • Psychedelics and Christianity
  • Disability Studies and the Bible
  • Women in the Bible
  • Immersion trips to Israel, Palestine, Greece, and Turkey

As Director of the Baptist House, she enjoys supporting and encouraging students as they pursue their academic and ministerial training in an ecumenical and university-based seminary.

Rev. Dr. George Mason

Lead Advisor

Founder and President of Faith Commons, Pastor Emeritus Wilshire Baptist Church

Rev. Dr. George A. Mason served as the senior pastor of Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas from 1989-2021 and continues to be a leader among progressive Baptists affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Fellowship Southwest. He helped create the Affirming Network of CBF and continues to serve as an advisor in their efforts toward full inclusion of LGBTQ ministers in Baptist life. George began a pastoral residency program at Wilshire in 2002 called Pathways to Ministry. In 2018, George founded Faith Commons, a multi-faith, multi-ethnic nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing faith to bear for the sake of the common good. He serves as the group’s president and is the host of its weekly program Good God, conversations about faith and public life.

He graduated from the University of Miami (FL) with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, and then received Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Rev. Annette Owen

Coordinator

Rev. Annette Owen preaching in Perkins Chapel at SMURev. Owen is an ordained American Baptist minister who has served in a variety of ministerial contexts including a pastoral residency at Wilshire Baptist Church and a CPE residency at Dallas Methodist Hospital. She also has experience as a co-pastor and hospice chaplain. Before coming to the Baptist House, she served as the senior pastor of Community Baptist Church outside of Chicago.

Originally from Ohio, Annette earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Religion at Denison University, served as an AmeriCorps VISTA in West Virginia and earned her M.Div. at the University of Chicago Divinity School.

Kenna Curry

Kenny Curry with dogKenna Curry is currently earning her MDiv and MTS at Perkins School of Theology with an anticipated graduation date of May 2025. She is a member of Royal Lane Baptist Church and beginning the ordination process. She wants to pursue a PhD with research interests in OT Text Criticism and Translation Theory.
