Caitlin Charles
Dr. Caitlin Charles serves as the Deason Center's Research Specialist. As a member of the Center’s research team, she supports projects focused on understanding disparities and improving outcomes within the criminal legal system. Her work contributes to the Center’s broader efforts to produce rigorous, data-driven research that informs criminal justice reform.
Prior to joining the Center, Dr. Charles has published in the Journal of Crime and Delinquency. Dr. Charles has also studied the lived experiences of families affected by the criminal legal system, violence against women, and racism. Her experience preparing geospatial datasets, conducting geospatial analysis, and focusing on client experiences round out the Deason Center research team’s expertise.
Dr. Charles earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from Louisiana State University, where she also received her B.A. and M.A. in Sociology.
