Andrew Davies

Dr. Andrew Davies is the Director of Research for the Deason Criminal Justice Reform Center, where he develops and leads research initiatives focused on indigent legal services and the criminal justice system.

Dr. Davies is a social scientist and a nationally recognized scholar of indigent defense. Before joining the Deason Center, he oversaw data collection and research at the Office of Indigent Legal Services in Albany, New York. He previously served as a Research Associate at the New York State Defenders Association and is a co-founder of the Indigent Defense Research Association (IDRA), a national organization dedicated to data-driven research on indigent defense. His research has been supported by major federal funders, including the National Institute of Justice, the Bureau of Justice Statistics, and the National Science Foundation, and he has published more than 30 articles and other scholarly works.

Dr. Davies holds a B.A. in Modern History and an M.Sc. in Criminology from the University of Oxford, as well as an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University at Albany School of Criminal Justice.
