Emma's dissertation examines the Arctic during the Truman and Eisenhower years, revealing how the U.S. military used geophysical science to project national power in the early Cold War. She earned an M.A. from SMU and passed her comprehensive exam with distinction. Emma holds a B.A. from Angelo State University, where she studied systemic poverty in 20th-century America. Beyond her research, Emma is an avid reader and enjoys long walks in nature.
