The William P. Clements Department of History

Our twenty-four faculty members are dedicated teachers and distinguished scholars, specializing in fields ranging from North America, Latin America, Europe, and the non-Western world. We are committed to the pursuit of knowledge and the education of our students. We believe that the study of the past offers students critical and analytic skills essential not only to the discipline of history but also to their future careers. We offer a strong major and minor in history, with an array of undergraduate courses, recognized as both popular and challenging. These courses also contribute to a number of interdisciplinary programs. At the graduate level, we offer a master’s degree in several fields as well as a PhD in American history. We invite you to explore our educational programs, special interests, faculty research, and departmental events.
