Our Space Management team partners across campus with leadership, faculty and staff in the design, renovation or re-design of space. Utilizing the validated floor plans found in STABLE, we collaborate with stakeholders to strategize space assignments and programmatic needs and deliver carefully vetted solutions to Project Management for execution.

STABLE

Our centralized resource for space data and documentation, STABLE houses the most accurate record of building, floor plan, and room type data for our university.  All faculty and staff have access to our basic floor plan data through the CAD viewer.  Additionally, simple submission options are on the main page for updating your office location or changing use of a space. These forms route directly to our team for quick review and timely response.

AutoCAD & Floor plans

SMU Space Management utilizes AutoCAD files as the foundation for capturing and maintaining accurate space data within the STABLE Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS). By leveraging detailed architectural drawings, the team ensures that space information remains current, reliable, and aligned with campus facilities. This data is then transformed into dynamic, interactive floor plans that incorporate multiple layers of information, enabling faculty and staff to visualize and analyze space utilization, occupancy, departmental assignments, and other key metrics. These tools support informed, data-driven decision-making and enhance transparency, collaboration, and strategic space planning across the university.
