Grounds Excellence Awards

SMU Mustangs Statue In many areas, the landscape at SMU is formal reflecting the programs taught in the surrounding buildings while meeting the environmental needs of Dallas.
Where possible, we let our imaginations go, showcasing some plants that many would not be familiar with, while demonstrating the large pallet of material which can be use in North Texas. We want to help educate the public on what plants can be used at their homes and what it takes to make them
flourish. Our landscape helps set the tone for what those who live, work and attend college will expect during their time at SMU.

PGMS Salutes Southern Methodist University for Grounds Management Excellence

Forest Hill, MD (October 2019) – The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) recognized Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX with an Honor Award in the Society's 2019 Green Star Awards® competition. The award was given in the Urban University Grounds category for exceptional grounds maintenance. Winners were honored during the Society’s 2019 Awards Dinner held October 17 in conjunction with the School of Grounds Management & GIE+EXPO in Louisville, KY, October 15-18.
Highlighted with Iris, Artemisia, Roses, and Snapdragons, the oval bed in front of A.C. Simmons Hall compliments the unique collegiate Georgian architecture, providing all who visit, live, work and attend classes a beautiful, relaxing, and inspirational landscape.

The Green Star Awards program brings national recognition to grounds maintained with a high degree of excellence, complimenting other national landscape award programs that recognize outstanding landscape design and construction.
