SMU hosts a variety of student groups that help directly and indirectly create a more sustainable community.
Environmental Representatives (E-Reps)
SMU's Environmental Representatives (E-Reps) provide peer role modeling, serve as a resource on sustainability questions and promote environmentally conscious behavior within their assigned residential communities.
Environmental Society
SMU Environmental Society welcomes all students who are interested in sustainability at SMU. Our current initiatives include:
- Educating the SMU community on recycling, local food, reusable energy, and more!
- Setting up a community garden!
- Impacting Dallas by volunteering with local environmental groups to clean up or teach!
- Sponsoring hiking outings and trips to the local farmer's market!
Engineers Without Borders - SMU
Environmental law deals generally with legal rules relating to the impact of human activities on the natural environment. The field includes legal responses to the control of pollution from human activities including air, water and solid and hazardous waste. It also includes legal systems for the preservation and management of natural resources. Practice in the field of environmental law necessarily requires familiarity with a wide range of legal areas including business, real estate, tort and administrative law.
Dedman Law Environmental Law Society
Engineers Without Borders-SMU is a non-profit student organization that partners with developing communities around the world to implement sustainable water, power, sanitation, and infrastructure solutions, enabling educational and economic improvement. Driven EWB-SMU students and leaders use practical engineering to bring the classroom and hope to life through compassionate action.
Cycling Club
SMU's cycling club is a member of the South Central Collegiate Cycling Conference. More information can be found on their Facebook Page.
