Lyle School of Engineering:

Undergraduate and graduate programs within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering educate and train leaders in the fields of construction and engineering design, environmental protection, and resource management.

The Environmental Science Program at Southern Methodist University includes a set of core courses that provide students with the necessary background in chemistry, earth science, physics, biology and mathematics to move into a biology, earth science, or a chemistry emphasis in their upper division courses.

Environmental law deals generally with legal rules relating to the impact of human activities on the natural environment. The field includes legal responses to the control of pollution from human activities including air, water and solid and hazardous waste. It also includes legal systems for the preservation and management of natural resources. Practice in the field of environmental law necessarily requires familiarity with a wide range of legal areas including business, real estate, tort and administrative law.
