Resources Submitted by Perkins Community Members

This challenging time is giving way to real creativity among our alumni/ae, students and friends—with many finding or creating solutions for staying connected and being the Church. Please take a moment to read community submissions below!

Rev. Leslie A. Stewart (M. Div. '14)

Resurrection Episcopal Church in Plano, Texas

"I performed a Baptism via Zoom on April 4, 2020. I provided blessed oil, blessed (bottled) water, a basin, pitcher, and Baptism shell that had been carefully sanitized for porch pick up. To provide peace of mind during a pandemic, I provided Baptism training to the parents and godparents and then coached the family through the Baptism on Zoom."

Paul Neeley

All Saints Anglican in Dallas, Texas

"I've complied about a dozen resources on "Holy Week at Home" in a blog post (click here). It is an ecumenical list of resources, including some from the UMC. God bless all you are doing."

Dr. Stephen Redmond (D. Min. '15)

North Georgia Conference Disaster Response Ministry - Warehouse Manager

"Last week (week of March 23) I put together a four person Disaster Response Team and we packed 2,500 N95 masks that had been previously stored into flood buckets. Upon request, I delivered these masks to the GEMA and Homeland Security Agency. Due to the fact pace nature in which I had assembled a team, prepare the masks and submit them direct calling and texting were the most effective means of communicating while in action. However, we used Zoom to conduct our conference meetings."

Brandon Lacey

New Life Full Gospel House of Worship in Shreveport, LA

"I created the 'House Church Bible' study curriculum to take the place of our midweek Bible study with the intent to give congregants access to study material they can implement at home with their families while practicing social distancing. It is a weekly study with a new session released every Wednesday via text message to members who have opted into our mass messaging system."
